The Romantic Fantastic Five a.k.a. Fantastic Five is one of the legendary groups that combined DJ Grand Wizzard Theodore (Creator of the Scratch and Needle Drop) on the turntables with some of the best assembled MC talent on one stage.
Made up of DJ Grand Wizard Theodore, Waterbed Kev, Master Rob, Dot-A-Rock, Prince Whipper Whip and Ruby Dee, they laid the foundation for crews to come.
In Grandmaster Flashes early days, his partner was "Mean Gene" Livingston.  Gene had a kid brother named Little Teddy.  At only 13, Little Teddy later known around the world as “Grand Wizard Theodore” is credited with the invention of two dominant DJ techniques – Scratching and Needle Drop.
In 1978, Whipper Whip and Dot-a-Rock were in a group called The Mighty Gestapo Crew.  They battled a crew called The Notorious 2 (who's members included Grandmaster Caz and JDL of the Cold Crush Brothers) at the Intersession Church on 155th Street and Broadway.
Whipper Whip and Dot-A-Rock were also original members of the Cold Crush Bros.
Kevie Kev signed with Sugar Hill Records and released the classic single, "All Night Long" in the midsummer of 1983. Mr. Magic co-produced it under the name, M2 (actually M squared).
Often referred to as the Fantastic Freaks or Fantastic Romantic 5, they put out the 12" "Can I Get A Soul Clap" in 1980 which is still currently available on Tuff City Records.
.The group also appeared in the first Hip Hop film "Wild Style" in 1982.
The Fantastic 5 had an infamous battle against The Legendary Cold Crush Brothers at Harlem World in 1981.  To this day, people talk about that legendary night and still argue about which crew really won.
